Herbert Solomon receives Bernard E. Witkin Award

Herbert J. Solomon, a partner with the San Diego law firm of Solomon Ward Seidenwurm & Smith LLP has received the Bernard E. Witkin, Esq. Award for Distinguished Service as an Attorney. The award was presented by the Law Library Justice Foundation (LLJF) at its annual dinner last month.

The LLJF also honored the Hon. David M. Gill for Distinguished Service as a Judge, Marjorie Cohn for Distinguished Service as an Educator and Carol Lam for Distinguished Service as a Community Leader.

Each year, LLJF honors members of the San Diego legal community for civic leadership and excellence in the teaching, practice, enactment, or adjudication of the law.

Solomon, who has practiced law in San Diego for 52 years, has contributed greatly to the local legal, civic and charitable communities. He has given his time to teach adults to read and write and served on a wide range of boards. He's been vice chairman of the California State Bar Committee of Bar Examiners, chairman of the city of San Diego Housing Commission, and president of the San Diego Symphony Orchestra Association, United Jewish Federation of San Diego County, and Jewish Community Foundation of San Diego County.

"Herb sets the standard for the rest of the San Diego Bar to follow," said Paul Metsch, managing partner with Solomon Ward. "His dedication to the legal profession and to helping those in need, serves as an example for young and seasoned attorneys alike."

Solomon, who founded Solomon Ward Seidenwurm & Smith in 1977, is considered one of San Diego's premier attorneys. He is known for his legal expertise in multiple areas including real estate, corporate and business law.
