Safe Kids San Diego Releases Childhood Injury Report

Solomon Ward Seidenwurm & Smith Attorney To Preside Over Summit

SAN DIEGO (September, 2009)

Safe Kids San Diego, a nonprofit organization dedicated solely to preventing unintentional childhood injury, will be releasing its annual report, "Unintentional Childhood Injury," which details unintentional childhood injuries for the last 10 years, on September 10th from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the Ronald McDonald House, located at 2929 Children's Way in San Diego.

Yosina Lissebeck, president of Safe Kids San Diego and an associate with San Diego-based law firm Solomon Ward Seidenwurm & Smith, LLP, will preside over the summit where the San Diego County EMS epidemiologist and Rady Children's Hospital trauma coordinator will present the most recent statistics. More than 100 fire chiefs, police chiefs, paramedics, political officials, healthcare professionals and injury prevention advocates are anticipated to attend.

"Unintentional injuries are the leading cause of death for children under the age of 14," said Lissebeck, who specializes in bankruptcy and insolvency. "The majority of these injuries are predictable and preventable occurrences. Through Safe Kids and this report, I hope to make San Diego County a safer place for children."

The report will once again show that drowning, suffocation, motor vehicle accidents, and falls are the leading causes of injury and injury related death to San Diego children.

"Preventing injuries to children is something that is extremely close to my heart," Lissebeck said. "Safe Kids is an organization that truly makes a difference in children's lives. I am proud to be involved with this organization and plan to continue to be advocate for the safety of children for many years to come."

Lissebeck has been involved with SafeKids San Diego for the last four years, serving as president and the drowning prevention chair from 2007 to 2009.

She joined Solomon Ward in February 2009.

Lissebeck received her undergraduate degree from the University of California at Santa Barbara in 1995 and her law degree from California Western School of Law in 1998.
